Frequently asked questions.

Quick answers about audiodownloader.com — supported platforms, audio formats, the 5/day quota, the Chrome extensions, and privacy. Can't find what you're looking for? Contact us.

Which platforms are supported?

12 platforms: YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, SoundCloud, X (Twitter), Facebook, Reddit, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Twitch, and Bilibili. We also offer a separate transcription tool for any audio/video URL.

Which audio formats can I download?

MP3 (128 / 192 / 320 kbps), M4A, Opus, WAV, FLAC, and "original" (the source bitrate untouched). The web form defaults to MP3 192 kbps.

Do you store the files I download?

No. The audio is processed by our backend and streamed to you, then discarded. We do not keep copies of the audio you download, and we do not keep a list of the URLs you submit.

Do you store my IP address?

We use your IP only to enforce the 5/day quota on the web form. We do not sell or share it. The Chrome extensions do not contact our backend for quota tracking at all.

Is there a daily download limit?

Yes — 5 downloads per day per IP on the web form, to keep the shared backend responsive. The quota resets at midnight UTC. Install a Chrome extension to bypass the cap entirely.

Why does Instagram sometimes return a private-post error?

We can only download public content. If the reel / post / story is set to private, or if the account is geo-restricted in our backend's region, the request will fail. Try a different public URL.

Is audiodownloader.com really free?

Yes. The web downloader is free with a 5-downloads-per-day limit per IP. The Chrome extensions are free with no daily quota — install one for unlimited use.

Do I need to sign up or create an account?

No. Both the web form and the Chrome extensions work without sign-up, email, or any personal data. The web quota is keyed to your IP, not to a user account.

Where is my downloaded file saved?

When you click the download button, the file is saved to your browser's default Downloads folder. On iPhone, you may need to pick "Save to Files" from the share sheet.

Can I use the web downloader on my phone?

Yes — it works on iPhone and Android in any modern browser. For high-volume mobile use we recommend installing the dedicated extension for your platform.

Is downloading audio from YouTube / Instagram / TikTok legal?

It depends on your jurisdiction and what you do with the file. Saving audio for personal, offline listening is generally tolerated. Re-uploading, distributing, or using it commercially without the rights-holder's permission is not. We provide the tool; you are responsible for how you use it.

Does the tool work on a school or office network?

It depends on whether the network blocks the platforms we fetch from. If you can normally load YouTube, Instagram, etc. in your browser, you should be able to download from us too.

What's the difference between the web form and the Chrome extension?

The web form is paste-a-link-and-go — perfect for a one-off download. The extension sits in your toolbar, recognizes the platform you're currently browsing, and adds a download button right on the page. Install the extension for unlimited use without copy-paste.

Does the extension see my browsing history?

No. The extension only reads the current tab's URL when you click its toolbar icon. It does not log, transmit, or store your browsing history.
